Go ahead, play with your food.
KFC unveils Gamer Box 2.0. A convenient, no-mess meal box with built-in gaming controls. This brings the best of both worlds gaming – finger licking -good chicken.
The weird gadget is the result of collaboration between KFC and Mountain Dew, with a latter company contributing its signature beverage as part of the deal.
Gaming in India is gaining exponential popularity across platforms. The more intriguing part, however, is the bluetooth game controller that awkwardly bookends the box. The Switch-like split controller is designed to play games on smartphone that can be wedged into a dock on the top of the chicken container after you have removed the Mountain Dew can.
The takeaway contraption appears to be exclusive to KFC India, with poultry fans able to win a box of their own. KFC is giving away the boxes on their Facebook page, offering friend taggers or comment on the original KFC announcement on its social media accounts that includes Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and get the chance to win one. Unfortunately it won’t be available for too long in the stores, so the chances of actually getting your hands on a chicken-gaming combo is likely to be very low.
This isn’t the first time KFC has tried a technological box design to drum up some interest in its food. Back in 2016 it debuted a box that could charge your smartphone, as a part of its “Watt a Box”, campaign.
